THE NEIGHBORHOOD
THE NEIGHBORHOOD

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Scenic Sausalito has enchanted visitors for decades in part because of the pride that the local residents take in their community and their neighborly care of one another. Sausalito is an active, age-friendly, affluent neighborhood with the majority of residents either over 53 or under 35. It's resort-style living cultivates empty nesters and young, city commuters alike.

COMMUTE TIMES

COMMUTE TIMES

Dipping just below highway 101, Sausalito is no more than a ten minute drive to the freeway, 15-20 minutes to downtown San Francisco and 30 minutes to the Bay Bridge for commutes to the East Bay.

WEATHER

WEATHER

Sausalito’s climate is classified as Mediterranean, but unlike warmer inland areas of California, the city is a little windier and chillier because of where it sits on the shore of San Francisco Bay. However, the offshore breezes and daily fog actually protect Sausalito from extreme cold temperatures that inland communities sometimes experience. The results are mild, wet, nearly frostless winters. The reverse is true in summer, when the breezes and fog create cooler temperatures in Sausalito, while inland cities could be sweltering. Average highs in Sausalito are usually in the 60s, with the hottest month of the year being September, with an average high of 70 degrees. Click here to see the current temperature.

BIKE-FRIENDLY

BIKE-FRIENDLY

The most popular way to get around town by both visitors and residents, while also seeing all the sights, is via bicycle. With bike lanes throughout town, you'll be free to ride pretty much everywhere.

WORLD-CLASS HIKING

WORLD-CLASS HIKING

Sausalito is one of the few locations in the greater San Francisco Bay Area that allows hikers to have their pick from an almost infinite variety of trails, views, and difficulty levels in planning a hike. Sausalito is also unique in that it is in such close proximity to many of the most scenic and sought after parks and trails for hikers and trail runners in California, and that all of these hikes are literally available within just a few minutes of the city.

FARMER'S MARKETS

FARMER'S MARKETS

Year round on Sunday's from 10-2pm, Sausalito’s own farmers’ market has been a hit with locals for years and is now available year-round for foodies and shoppers to enjoy the best in Bay Area fresh produce, prepared food, and more! Located just off the waterfront at Dunphy Park, this farmers’ market is a crowd pleaser for locals and the perfect stop-off for visitors coming through town for an afternoon of fun in Sausalito or a ride through the North Bay Area.
